North Queensland
I have just come back from a 12 day road trip to North Queensland travelling over 5000kms and visiting lots of little coastal towns along the way. One of my favourite places was Cape Hillsborough National Park just north of Mackay. This stunning location is famous for kangaroos and wallabies being fed on the beach at sunrise. I was only here for 1 night and stayed in one of the lovely cabins right near the beach so I didn't have far to go for sunrise and boy was it a beauty! This is taken from the beach right outside the resort looking across to Wedge Island. I would love to return one day and stay a little longer to walk across to this island at low tide and to discover other treasures that this national park holds such as a waterfall and a cave and a rockpool!
I found this lovely lone tree whilst on my travels to North Queensland. They'd had a lot of rain days before this hence the brownish water in the foreground but it's one of my favourite shots from my trip 123 kilometres south of Mackay, Clairview is a seaside community on the Isaac Coast. Clairview is a rustic beachside community, with golden sands famous for crabbing. Stay beachside and wake to the gentle lapping of the ocean right outside your door. These waters are a protected sanctuary for an endangered mammal, the Dugong. Walk along the soft sand and wet a line straight off the beach. The coast from Clairview to St Lawrence is a popular location to catch tasty mud crabs. A caravan park provides accommodation and facilities. A public park can be located on the esplanade. Beach-side picnic tables and park benches provide picturesque spots to stop for a break. A boat ramp is also available for a day on the water. https://www.queensland.com/au/en/places-to-see/destination-information/p-56b25ec82cbcbe7073ad85bf-clairview.html
Some people really do get to live in tropical paradise. How would you live to live across the road from this view - nothing standing in the way of your view and wouldn't you like to sit and have breakfast or lunch everyday sitting there under those palm trees? I can the stress just melting away just thinking about it.

This image is called the Pina Colada Sunrise because it has the sunrise colour of pineapple, it has the coconut in the foreground and the waves are creamy like coconut cream. all we need is a splash of white rum and we are set! anyone care to join me? The lyrics below came to me as I was processing this image. I am a huge fan of Graeme Connors and have been for many years. In fact we used to take the kids to his shows when they were little and he would always make the time to come and say hello to them after the show. In these crazy times at the moment I think we should all head a little further north and relax and chill out. Wouldn't you all like to just sink your toes into that sand and feel the stress just melt away? I know I would. Take the time to listen to the song - I'd love to know what you think. I head a little further north each year Leave the cities behind Out of sight, out of mind And when my troubles can all dissappear I head a little further north each year www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2MOfFD1Z_c

I stayed near here on my recent holiday to North Queensland so I grabbed a wood fired pizza and a G&T and sat beside the lake waiting for the sun to set. I wasn't expecting the sunset to really go off but Mother Nature really surprised me as it just kept getting better and better. It was the perfect way to end a great day.
