Moreton Bay
Read MoreIn this photo you have South Stradroke Island on the left and you can just make out the bottom of North Stradbroke Island on the right. They were once joined but in 1898 wild seas broke through the narrow isthmus of Jumpinpin separating the Islands. The sands and waterways of Moreton Bay are constantly changing - not 12 months ago none of the sand on the right in this photo was there - this was all water - nature is amazing isn't it?
It's a hard life sometimes. I was invited to go out with friends on their boat on the weekend. We headed to a Place called Millionaires on South Stradbroke Island where we swam most of the day. Then late in the afternoon we motored over to a safehaven called Tiger Mullet in Moreton Bay (don't ask me why it's called that, I have no idea). As we were having our Sundowner drinks this awesome sky appeared before us.
As I have said many times, I count myself as truly lucky to live in such a magnificent part of the world. My wonderful friends Sue and John and I moored overnight at Tippler's Resort on South Stradbroke Island . The only way to get here is by boat so t's an extremely popular destination for the local boating community particularly at Easter and any long weekend.

Taken from Tippler's resort on South Stradbroke Island. Stradbroke Island is in Moreton Bay just off the coast of Brisbane in Queensland Australia.
I had the pleasure of going boating with friends over the weekend. There was a huge amount of smoke in the air as authorities prepare for the fire season by burning off ahead of summer. These boats are settled in the evening by "rafting up". This is where the largest boat anchors then the others just tie up along side. All the duckboards on the back of the boats are all in a row so that everyone can socialise by visiting each other and having drinks and nibblies together as the sun sets.
I spent the Easter Weekend out on the water with my very good friends John & Sue. We had absolutely glorious weather. This shot was taken at Tippler's resort. There were lots and lots many boats out on the water and sooooo many idiots who don't have a clue how to operate a boat! Having said that we still had an amazing time. Lots of swimming, lots of eating, lots of wine & laughter :)
I have just come back from spending a few days with friends out in beautiful Moreton Bay. This shot was taken from a boaties safe haven called Tiger Mullet. We moored here for several days spending time at popular places on South Stradbroke Island called Millionaires and the Bedrooms. Both these locations are popular with boaties and jetskiers alike. This island is not bridged therefore the only way to get here is by boat. The beaches are pristine and its a great place to bring your family. The smoke on the horizon was from the dreadful fire that was burning on North Stradbroke Island.
