A rather overcast but nevertheless pretty morning at Victoria Point
Swoke me at 3.45am saying get out bed lazy bones! So I did and headed down to Victoria Point for the sunrise. Somehow when I am shooting I just lose myself and just enjoy the moment - one minute its 4am and the next thing I know it's 6.30. By the way if you are looking for a new Logo or a watermark, you should give Darren Utteridge a go, he is a top bloke who just gets it! www.dudesigns.com.au/
We have been blessed with the most magnificent sunrises and sunsets in the last week and yesterday morning's sunrise was no exception! When scenes like this appear before me they just take my breath away. I am awfully glad that I get to share it with you. Storms are still lurking around the Brisbane area so I decided to head down to Victoria Point to try to capture some long exposures with the tide low and the boats still. What I didn't take into account was how deep the mud was on the low tide. I was shin deep and I was worried that I would lose my shoes as I walked. The tripod needed a very good clean when I got home and so did I!
The things I do to get a shot! This serene scene is very deceptive. The tide came in very quickly catching me unaware and as I tried to scurry to shore I kept sinking knee deep in the mud. I lost one of my water shoes and no matter how hard I tried to get it out of the mud it was stuck fast. All I can say is that I was very glad to see a tap near my car when I got back. :)

I thought this was worth posting even though its a little "noisy." After all how often do you get so many strikes in one shot? I like to think that I am brave but when the lightning begins to come down I become the biggest chicken ever! This storm was very scary, lightning was coming down everywhere and the wind and rain was incredible. I took this shot and then took cover in the car.
A funny thing happened on Saturday morning. I was out shooting this overcast but calm sunrise when I heard someone yell out to me Morning Beth! I turned around and saw my boss on his morning run with his running group. He then started running back the way that he came and I yelled back "you're going the wrong way" and he waved to me then kept running. A few minutes later every single runner that jogged passed yelled out Morning Beth! My boss has a funny sick sense of humour but it made my morning - I have never felt so popluar :)
VP 62 Oh what a Beautiful Morning!
Just a stunning morning out in the bay, the tide was coming in fast but this little boat was still stuck in the sand so thankfully it wasn't being rocked by the tide and my image stayed sharp.
My best friend, my partner in crime was farewelled today after passing away from cancer. She was the ying to my yang and the most positive person you would ever meet. She was kind, loving and saw the funny side of life in every situation. I dedicate this image to her. She had a sunny disposition so this image reflects that I think - as the sun is going down it still shines so brightly giving off a golden glow and that's what Sue did...everyone she met loved her. Fly high with the angels now my dearest friend. I will miss you every day until we meet again.
